Charminar Essay for School Students.

Charminar is situated in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. It is in the heart of the city. Charminar is basically a huge arch. It is considered a masterpiece of Qutub Shahi architecture. It is in the middle of the Choodi Bazaar (Bangles Market). It has four tall minarets and a mosque on its top floor. 

This great monument was built by Sultan Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah. It was built in honour of his Hindu wife, Bhagmati. It was constructed between 1591 and 1612. It was the time he shifted his capital from Golconda to Hyderabad. The whole structure is built upon four grand arches. The four arches face the four directions. It has spiral staircases leading to the top of the minarets. The structure is generally considered as the symbol of the glory of Qutub Shahi dynasty. 

The name Charminar is based on its four minarets. The minarets are beautifully carved. Charminar literally means Four Pillars. Charminar is basically a square structure. Granite and lime mortar were used for its construction. It stands on a square base. Each arch is 11 metres wide and 20 metres high. There are four flocks, one each on every archway. They were added in 1889. The height of the minarets is 22 metres. Each minaret stands on a lotus - leaf base. 

Each minarets has four floors. They look like rings around the minaret. In between the floors of the minaret, there are spiral staircases of 149 steps. A beautiful view of the city is available from the top of the minaret. The upper levels of the Charminar were used as mosques.

چارمینار 1591 عیسوی میں تعمیر کی گئی تھی۔ ہندوستان کی ریاست تلنگانہ کے شہر حیدرآباد میں بنی یہ عمارت ایک یادگار مسجد ہے۔ اس وقت یہ حیدرآباد کا عالمی ورثہ ہے اور چارمینار بھی ہندوستان کی اہم یادگاروں میں شامل ہے۔

چارمینر دریائے موسیٰ کے مشرقی ساحل پر تعمیر کی گئی تھی۔ چارمینار کے بائیں جانب لاڈ مارکیٹ اور جنوب میں مکہ مسجد ہے۔ آثار قدیمہ اور تعمیراتی خزانے میں اسے “یادگاروں کی فہرست” میں بھی شامل کیا گیا ہے اور اس کا انگریزی نام “فور ٹاور” ہے۔ اس یادگار کی اس تاریخ میں بہت ساری افسانوی داستانیں ہیں۔

آثار قدیمہ کے سروے آف انڈیا (اے ایس آئی) کے مطابق یہ ریکارڈ چارمینار کے نام سے درج کیا گیا ہے۔ “چارمینار کی تعمیر کی وجوہ کے بارے میں بہت ساری کہانیاں ہیں اور یہ خیال کیا جاتا ہے کہ چارمینار وسط میں تعمیر کی گئی ہے۔ شہر طاعون کے انفیکشن سے بچنے کے لئے لوگ اس پر یقین رکھتے تھے۔ اس وقت یہ ایک سنگین بیماری تھی جو موت کا سبب بن رہی تھی اور کہا جاتا ہے کہ محمد قلی قطب شاہ نے یہ مسجد بنائی اور یہاں دعا کی۔

17 ویں صدی کے ایک فرانسیسی مسافر ژان ڈی تھنیوٹ کے مطابق چارمینار 1591 عیسوی میں تعمیر کیا گیا تھا یعنی ایک اور اسلامی صحاح سال میں 1000 اسلامی ممالک میں یہ ایک تہوار کے طور پر منایا جاتا ہے لہذا قطب شاہ نے اس تہوار کو منانے کے لئے حیدرآباد شہر کا انتخاب کیا اور وہاں چارمینار کی تعمیر کرائی۔

مورخ مسعود حسین خان کا کہنا ہے کہ چارمینار کی تعمیر کا کام 1592 میں مکمل ہوا تھا اور حیدرآباد شہر کا پتہ 1591 میں ہوا تھا۔ کتاب “محبوب کے دن” کے مطابق قطب شاہ نے سن 1589 میں چارمینار کی تعمیراتی کام کا آغاز کیا تھا۔ اس جگہ پر تعمیر کیا جہاں اس نے اپنے مستقبل کا قلعہ پہلی بار دیکھا تھا اور ملکہ کے اسلام قبول کرنے کے بعد اس نے اس شہر کا نام حیدرآباد رکھا تھا۔ لیکن یہ کہانی مورخین اور اسکالرز نے کہی تھی لیکن مقامی لوگوں کو اس کہانی پر کافی اعتماد تھا۔ چارمینار کا رقبہ گولکنڈہ مارکیٹ سے منسلک ہے۔ قدیم حیدرآباد کا قصبہ چارمینار کی وجہ سے تعمیر کیا گیا تھا اور تب سے چارمینار شہر حیدرآباد کے مرکز میں واقع ہے۔ یہ شہر چار ٹاورز کے چار میناروں سے متصل تھا۔ چارمینار کے سامنے چار کمانڈ اور چار دروازے ہیں۔ سلطان محمد قلی قطب شاہ نے قطب شاہی سلطنت کے پانچویں حکمران نے سن 1591ء میں چارمینار تعمیر کیا۔

اپنے دارالحکومت گولکنڈہ کو حیدرآباد منتقل کرنے کے بعد اس نے حیدرآباد میں چارمینار تعمیر کیا۔ چارمینار کی وجہ سے آج حیدرآباد کو عالمی سطح پر شناخت ملی ہے۔ بعد میں شہر حیدرآباد کو ترقی دینے کے لئے فارسی معمار کو بھی بلایا گیا۔ اور پھر چارمینار کے آس پاس مسجد اور مدرسہ بھی بنایا گیا تھا۔ چارمینار ہند اسلامی فن کی بنیاد پر تعمیر کیا گیا تھا۔ میر مومن آسٹرآبادی قطب شاہ کے وزیر اعظم نے چارمینار اور شہر حیدرآباد کے ڈیزائن اور ترتیب میں ایک اہم کردار ادا کیا۔ یہ ساخت ہند اسلامی فن تعمیر کا ہے جس میں کچھ فارسی عناصر شامل ہیں۔ حیدرآباد شہر چارمینار کے آس پاس چار حصوں میں برابر تقسیم ہوا تھا۔
