Teamcenter Change Management and Workflows
With the latest release of Teamcenter there have been some improvements made to both change management and workflows. With products becoming more and more advanced and spanning multiple domains, collaboration and coordination far beyond the scope of engineering are required. Changes to change management and workflows are providing companies with even better benefits and even more capabilities.
Most importantly, companies are seeing the many benefits they will gain from using Teamcenter to help with change management and workflows. They will reduce their risk because they will have a complete understanding of the impact of change. Risk, cycle times, and costs of change will all be lower than ever before. Employees will spend less time analyzing, administrating, and implementing change with integrated PLM. Teamcenter change management will even make sure users are sticking to standards and business rules. These are just some of the many benefits companies can gain from utilizing Teamcenter change management in its newest version.
Now, let’s get into what some of the new change management capabilities are:
Active Change: – Eliminate mistakes – Easily configure structure properties to be tracked – Automatic change tracking can be done via Active Change.
Change Tabs on Objects: – Consolidated view of changes that helps to reduce the amount of time users will spend in review – Changes and change relations for an item can be more easily understood – It’s also easier to identify in process changes for an item
Process Standardization: – Can be tailored to support YOUR business process – Users can incorporate best practices and sample workflows as part of the product
Change Summary: – Execute BOM compare from the change summary table for any modified assembly – Tree Navigation (a navigation pattern that allows for access to a hierarchical structure) – Configure columns for the change summary – Also, users can now have a single clear view of the change summary
Add to Change: – There is now no need to navigate away to add content to a change – Users can add content to Active Change or “My Changes” while in a product structure – It also enables adding impacted items, reference items, and problem items
Next, we take a look at some of the new workflow capabilities:
Assign all users: – See improved flexibility of workflow assignments by allowing users to be assigned after the workflow has started, supporting process assignment lists (PALs), participants, and standard tasks
Process Alignment List Authoring: – Reduce time spent managing users in workflows – Create and modify PALs
Visual cue for items in workflow: – Be able to easily tell if an item is in a workflow process
Demote, suspend and resume: – Demote tasks, suspend and resume a workflow
Increase instruction sizes: – Improve the description of the tasks by increasing instruction sizes
Filter users by group and role:
– Easily find any user by filtering using group and role
These improvements of capabilities to Teamcenter change management and workflows will help make the software easier to use and companies will quickly start to see the previously mentioned benefits if they utilize Teamcenter effectively.
